Skiing in Korea=interesting

Soo I went skiing when I returned to Korea to begin my second year of teaching. I have been skiing before in the US (Vermont, Pennsylvania, California and Colorado). Wil was anxious to see how good I was. He didnt believe I was pretty good like I said I was. (and I'm not, I just like competing with him). We set up a trip with some other Korean friends. We were going to Yansan, a mountain only an hour from Busan. It was only 60,000 won for the whole enchilada! Perfect! I was prepared to face the cold with my new ski jacket, gloves, long underwear and hat. Wil told me I HAD to rent ski pants otherwise I would be too cold (I never wore ski wear before when I skied). After arriving at the "mountain" I was surprised and relieved at the same time. Surprised because it was not a mountain at all, but a small hill, and relieved because I could practice skiing on the bunny hill that it was and not have to tell Wil I cant go on the black diamond runs!
We arrived before it opened, so it was not crowded. Surprising. One of the friends we went with had never skied before. I was glad to stay with him and try to teach him how to stop and other important things I wasnt even sure I knew how to do. Wil and the others were off skiing on their own, but I stayed back, hesitant of going down the hill...it looked bigger from the top!
I finally went down, annoyed with the guy who was mostly just sitting down. It was easy! And fun! I knew how to do it! I didnt even fall! Assa! Again, again! I was ready for the next level (there were only 3 runs). I was surprised to find that I actually could ski! I was getting confident...too confident maybe and ran into someone on the way down the hardest hill, at the steepest part. I couldnt control my speed! Sorry to the man I knocked over, I asked, "kwenchunuyo?" He knodded his head yes. Now I was a little shaky and scared. I didnt really want to go down that one again!
I took a break and ate some toast (Korean sandwich with egg, cheese, ham and white sauce-uh).
The easy hill was packed with people. The other two were scattered thin with people. Most of which were sitting in the middle of the path. I didnt mind sitting. I enjoy people watching. Especially in Korea. Its entertaining to see all the people in their expensive clothes and equipment who cant even make it down the baby hill.
For the price, and the beatiful warm weather, this day of skiing was great! I even got to practice skiing so the next time someone asks me if I can, I can tell them yes! Maybe I wont say Im good at it though.
